The Bowie knife has a wonderful leather sheath strengthened with sheets of iron for shape and a German silver ending mount. Includes museum stand. Overall length: 17"; clip-point blade length: 11-1/2"; blade width: 2-1/4"; thickness: 3/8" at widest point. Sheath is 12-3/8" long, 2-5/8" wide. This is the only known Bowie knife with an inscribed Naval presentation. Reference: Flayderman, Norm, "The Bowie Knife", China: Norm Flayderman, 2004, pp. 182-183. This knife is described and illustrated on these two pages.
