Natica Inches Bates (1887-1981) married Oric in 1913, he died in 1918. This may be her great-grandfather, Boston Scion Henderson Inches (1774-1857).

Oric Bates (1883-1918) was an American archaeologist, Egyptologist, and museum curator renowned for his pioneering studies of ancient Libyan cultures and leadership of early 20th-century expeditions in North Africa Affiliated with Harvard University's Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, Bates died of Spanish Flu after joining the Army in 1918. His wife volunteered at Harvard Egyptian studies for the remainder of her long life.
