To fulfill a vow made when the town was spared from the Bubonic Plague, the Passion Play was first performed by townspeople in 1634, has been ever since in years ending in zero, the performances repeat over five months, involve 2,000 townspeople, took place in 1910 inside a 4,000 seat house built in 1890, the show runs seven hours with a meal break. Anton Lang was the most famous portrayer of Christ, was a professional potter off stage, his pots are quite desirable.
