RARE PHILADELPHIA TALL CLOCK - 18th c Walnut Cased Philadelphia Tall Clock that belonged to the Garland family at 1506 Walnut St, with works by David Paterson of Sunderland (active 1763-1778); the case with reticulated and carved swan neck pediment and having fully dimensional 6" rooster finial, deep carved applied floral rosettes, center chimney carved plinth flanked by pierced acanthus work over dentil molding, applied scroll and swag work set on four tapered turned columns, double arch tombstone door, flat panel box base set on ball feet; the works are eight-day brass weight driven time, strike, seconds, calendar and moon phase movement, has unusual double hand moon phase indicators, tombstone shaped dial with applied engraved name over painted moon dial, back of disc also engraved with makers name, old oak seat board, 104" tall, 21 1/2" x 11", small breaks on rooster finial and base, old refinish, appears to have missing sections of applied carving at top of door arch, missing locks, replaced old glass, paint loss to moon phase dial, loss of blacking to numbers, minor shrinkage separations to case. Includes five period cased photographs of members of the original Philadelphia family who owned this clock.
